This plain white room had boring sliding windows and a view of
the home next door. The walls were painted in a rich pumpkin color and the
windows were dressed in panels of ruby red and bronze silk. Cream colored
cellular shades with the up/down draw were used for privacy while allowing the
natural light and view of the sky or stars while obscuring the adjacent home.
Carved wood furniture and open canopy bed adorn this very large space, while the
bed is dressed in shades of red silk with gold accents. The result is elegant
and formal.

Dining Before & After

This formal dining
room had a large breakfront, table and Chippendale chairs. The client
requested a more casual and tropical feeling while preserving the use of the
current furniture. A three panel 8’ bamboo screen, hand painted with lovely
palm trees, became the backdrop of the room. Chairs were recovered to
reflect a more casual feel, and the room was filled with exotic trees,
plants, and centerpiece for the table. The finished room is relaxed and
inviting.

This
kitchen had all of the right elements but no personality. The cabinets were
glazed alder and the countertops were black granite. The white walls looked
especially bland against a multicolored tile floor of earth tones. The walls
were painted in a combination of three colors and faux, to accentuate the
architectural elements of the room and give it depth. A beautiful light
fixture with crackled amber globes gives the breakfast nook a bit of
romance. The finished kitchen is now unified and simply glows.
Wine Tasting Room Before & After

This
small “extra room” was transformed into a wine room with a West Indies
flair. Rich mahogany wainscot and custom cabinetry are complemented by
Bordeaux colored granite, bamboo ceiling with rattan fan, stone floor and
faux plaster walls. The bistro table with matching barstools completes a
setting, which conjures up an image of balmy breezes, Bogie and Bacall, and
of course, fine wine.
Living Room
Before & After

Sometimes a
room has furniture that is the correct scale, a nice focal point, good windows
and view, and yet it is dull and uninteresting. With the use of a
dramatic window treatment, custom designed wall trim, as well as reupholstering
a couple of pieces and a few dynamic appointments, this space became warm and
welcoming.

Finishing Touches

I really enjoy designing
and making my own plant arrangements, real or silk. I am particular that the
scale, colors, and container being just perfect for the required application. I
also place great importance on those final touches and accessories. Thus the
concept leading to my business name: “Finished & Fabulous”!
